Punishment vs Revenge

What is the purpose of putting someone in jail? Many people may still think that prison serves as a way to inflict pain or some sort of suffering to the prisonner for the crime he or she commited. This would be the application of the ancient Lex Talionis created in Babylonia : an eye for an eye. But in our contemporary society, the actual goal is to give the prisoner time to think about what he did, find out it was wrong, and prepare himself to come back in our society as a good person. I grant you that social reinsertion works in about 1% of the cases, but the purpose is not to punish. So the death penalty, being the ultimate punishment, has no reason to be.

Hello people!

It's been so long since I wrote that I had forgotten my username. I'm forcing myself to write and to find a subjet, but my mind is blank...

...So a few hours later, as ideas are still escaping me, I realized my failiure as an author does not come from a lack of ideas, but from a lack of a reason to write.

This blog needs a purpose...

Explanations...

It's a well known fact that blogs are about the lives of people writing them. Mostly, when I started this blog, I wanted to make it about life itself, mine or those of others. This is why I chose this quote from Shakespeare to define this blog :

Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Now, this may sound pessimistic, but I look at life, a single life, as almost insignificant for the whole of humanity, but means everything to the one it belongs to. This perspective is similar to "Dust in the Wind" from Kansas.

So now you have it, it's going to be a philosophical one... Hope I won't deceive!

The Begining..

Hello people, this is going to be short and sweet.

This is my first blog ever and I don't kow how to begin.

My wife (Piccolo is her nickname, and she has her own blog already) wants me to announce that I'm already married (sorry ladies...) but you all will learn in time that I'm not that kind of guy anyway.

Now that this is all straitened out, I look forward to tell you guys about some of the weird stuff going on in my head.
